Mural view 2

Over the summer, Sarah worked with teens of the Mayor's Job Program at the Greater Southwest Development Corporation to create this colorful mural.

The purpose of this project was for the teens to come together and beautify their neighborhood. This project was organized by Harry Meyer, Deputy Director of Development at GSDC.

In last week's digital photography class, students were told to take 5 pictures of their shadow. Above are two of the pictures. Participants had a lot of fun with this class and always enjoy going outside to take pictures.

Friday, September 19, 2008 ~ But is the Happy Art Center really happy?
Analiese painting Analiese smiling
Yes!!! You heard it here first, folks. Art Center participant, Analiese, age 7, declared on Thursday that, "I always feel happy at the Art Center."

She also went on to tell us that the Art Center is supposed to be happy and that one of her favorite things about the Art Center is that she gets to be with her friends.

We like happy kids!

Friday, September 12, 2008 ~ Why are these kids planting NOW???
Kids planting
... because the Artists' Garden is getting a hoophouse! Well, technically it's a "low tunnel" that will be about 4 feet wide and 10-20 feet long. This will allow gardeners to grow year round in this greenhouse-like shelter.

The funds for this fall's project will come from a grant to Angelic Organics Learning Center from the Chicago Community Trust.
